Activity Summary:
Little ones will work together to make a large paper quilt. Children will learn about cooperation as they discover texture and begin looking at history.
What You Need:
•different types of paper ie: tissue, sandpaper, glossy paper etc. cut into geometric shapes
•large sheet of heavy paper
•glue
What You Do:
- Talk about quilting bees and designs & stories behind them.
- Draw a design on large paper for group to fill in by gluing pre-cut geometric paper pieces into patterns.
- An alternative would be to use a long sheet of wax paper and only tissue shapes to make a window quilt, for the sun to shine through.
