Age: 2-5 years
Activity Summary:
Young children will build their hand-eye coordination as they make lovely jars filled with colored sugar.
What You Need:
•Baby food jars (various sizes)
•Assorted colors of food coloring
•2-3 cups of sugar
•3-4 small bowls
•Spoon
What You Do:
- Put 1/2 to 3/4 cups of sugar in a bowl and add 2-3 drops of food coloring and mix together.
- At first the sugar will probably clump up but, continue to mix and it will regain its original sugar form. Have to child spoon the colored sugar into the baby food jar in layers using the different colors (remember the jars of colored sand?).
- Once it is filled to the top tap the jar on the table to settle the sugar-some more may need to be added. Use glue around the rim of the jar to secure the lid.
- And there you have it-put a silk flower, sea shells, paper hearts etc. on the top for some decoration. These make great Mothers Day gifts!
