Age: 2-5 years
Activity Summary:
Little ones can use spray bottles, tennis balls and other non-traditional painting tools to create a large scale outdoor mural.
What You Need:
•A large roll of paper.
•Shaving brushes.
•Foam brushes.
•Sponges.
•Spray bottles.
•A warm day outside or a covered work area indoors.
•Water-based paint in the primary colors (red, yellow and blue).
•Containers for the paint.
What You Do:
- Make a wall or floor mural together.
- Either lay the paper on the ground or attach it to a wall or hang it from a clothes line.
- Mix up some trays of tempera paint in the primary colors.
- Put one object in each tray, a shaving brush, a foam brush, a tennis ball.
- Children can let the tennis ball drop on the paper and make a big color splash (children should nt be encouraged to throw the tennis ball if the paper is hanging rather than laying on the ground).
- Paint can be put in a spray bottle and sprayed on the paper.
- The colors will run and blend into wonderful designs and shapes.
- Let the mural dry and hang it up and admire it.
